Description
Widely hailed by fellow legends, Albert Lee is the guitarist other guitarists talk about in hushed awe. Eric Clapton once called him “the ultimate virtuoso”, while Emmylou Harris described his sound as “often emulated, never equalled” - and for good reason. With his lightning-fast hybrid picking, soulful tone and melodic finesse, Albert Lee carved out a transatlantic career that bridges the roots of rock ’n’ roll and the heart of Nashville.
Born in Herefordshire and raised on a diet of Buddy Holly and the Everlys, Albert was already playing professionally in the early '60s London scene, swapping licks (and occasionally bands) with the likes of Jimmy Page, Chris Farlowe and Georgie Fame. But it was his move to the States that truly cemented his legacy, becoming a go-to session and touring guitarist for a roll call of icons: Joe Cocker, Emmylou Harris, the Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton and even the Crickets themselves.
A two-time Grammy winner and a constant poll-topper in Guitar Player magazine, Albert is also a deft piano player and warm-voiced singer with deep roots in both British rock and American country. His solo records showcase the range of a musician who can just as easily rip through a breakneck instrumental as croon a country ballad. And yes - he still tours the world wielding his signature Ernie Ball Music Man guitar like it was forged for him alone.
It’s a rare chance to hear the fire, finesse and sheer joy of a master at work with stories etched in six strings and solos that dance between precision and passion.
